Two kinds of coverage, one office down the street.

Most of the people we help are on Medicare. We also help folks under 65 who buy their own coverage. Pick the one that fits and we’ll walk you through it.

Medicare

For people 65 and older, people turning 65, and anyone on Medicare because of a disability.

Medicare Supplement: Also called Medigap. Helps pay the costs Original Medicare leaves to you, and works with any doctor who takes Medicare.
Medicare Advantage: A private plan that covers your Part A and Part B benefits, often with drug coverage and extras built in.
Part D drug plans: Prescription coverage to go with Original Medicare and a Supplement.
Medicare and Medicaid: If you have both, you may qualify for plans built for people with both.

For individuals and families without coverage from an employer.

Health plans: Major medical plans from the ACA marketplace, with tax credits that can lower your premium if you qualify.
Short-term medical: Plans from UnitedHealthcare that can bridge a gap in coverage. They cover less than a marketplace plan.

Two ways to get your Medicare.

Everyone starts with Part A (hospital) and Part B (doctors). From there, most people take one of two paths. Neither is right for everyone, which is why we ask about you first.

Medicare Supplement compared with Medicare Advantage
	Original Medicare + Supplement	Medicare Advantage
Your doctors	Supplement: Any doctor or hospital in the country that accepts Medicare.	Advantage: Usually a network of doctors and hospitals (HMO or PPO).
Monthly cost	Supplement: A premium for the Supplement, plus Part B and a drug plan.	Advantage: Many plans have a low premium. You still pay for Part B.
When you get care	Supplement: Low, predictable costs, depending on the plan you pick.	Advantage: Copays as you go, up to a yearly out-of-pocket limit.
Prescriptions	Supplement: Covered by a separate Part D drug plan.	Advantage: Usually built into the plan.
Dental, vision, hearing	Supplement: Not included.	Advantage: Many plans include some.
Changing later	Supplement: After your first six-month window, you may have to answer health questions to switch.	Advantage: You can change plans during set windows each year.

Have Medicare and Medicaid?

Some people qualify for both. There are Medicare plans built just for that situation, and they can include extra help that a regular plan doesn’t. If you have a Medicaid card, let us know when you fill out the form or call.

When you can sign up or switch.

Medicare runs on windows. Miss one and you may wait a year, or pay a late penalty for life.

Turning 65? Your Initial Enrollment Period is seven months long. It starts three months before your birthday month and ends three months after. Your best chance to get a Medicare Supplement without health questions is the six months after your Part B starts.

Does it cost anything to work with you?

No. There’s no fee for our help. Insurance companies pay us, and your premium is the same whether you enroll with us or on your own.

Can I keep my doctor?

With a Medicare Supplement, you can see any doctor in the country who accepts Medicare. With Medicare Advantage, it depends on the plan’s network. Tell us who your doctors are and we’ll check before you choose.

I’m turning 65 but still working. Do I need to do anything?

It depends on the size of your employer and the coverage you have there. Some people should sign up for Part B right away, and some can wait without a penalty. Call us and we’ll go over your situation.

What should I have ready when you call?

Your Medicare card if you have one, a list of your prescriptions with the doses, and the names of your doctors. That’s enough for us to compare plans for you.

Can I change my plan later?

Yes, during set windows. Annual Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7 each year, and people in a Medicare Advantage plan get another chance from January 1 to March 31. Some life changes, like moving, open a special window.

Health plans from the marketplace

Individual and family major medical coverage

These are the plans created by the Affordable Care Act. In Georgia you buy them through Georgia Access, the state’s marketplace, and we can enroll you there. Every plan covers doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions, and preventive care, and no one can be turned down for a health condition.

Depending on your income and household size, you may qualify for a tax credit that lowers your monthly premium. We’ll run the numbers with you.

Short-term medical

Plans from UnitedHealthcare

A short-term medical plan can cover you for a stretch of time when a marketplace plan isn’t an option, like between jobs or after Open Enrollment has closed. You can apply any time of year, and coverage can start quickly.

Short-term medical plans are not ACA marketplace coverage. They don’t have to cover pre-existing conditions or every essential health benefit, you can be turned down based on your health, and they don’t qualify for premium tax credits. We’ll go over the trade-offs honestly so you can decide.

When you can enroll.

Open Enrollment happens once a year. Outside of it, you need a qualifying life event, and you usually have 60 days from that event to sign up.

Does it cost anything to work with you?

No. There’s no fee for our help. Insurance companies pay us, and the price of a marketplace plan is the same whether you enroll with us or on your own.

Will I qualify for a tax credit?

It depends on your household size and expected income for the year. Many people who buy their own coverage qualify for a credit that lowers their monthly premium. We’ll check for you.

I missed Open Enrollment. Am I out of luck?

Not always. Losing other coverage, moving, marriage, or a new baby can open a Special Enrollment Period, usually for 60 days after the event. If you don’t qualify, a short-term medical plan may cover you until the next Open Enrollment. Call us as soon as something changes.

What’s the difference between a marketplace plan and short-term medical?

A marketplace plan covers pre-existing conditions and a full set of benefits, and it may qualify for a tax credit, but you can only sign up during Open Enrollment or after a life event. A short-term medical plan from UnitedHealthcare covers less and can turn you down based on your health, but it can bridge a gap when a marketplace plan isn’t an option. We’ll help you weigh the two.

What should I have ready when you call?

The ages of everyone who needs coverage, a rough idea of your household income for the year, your doctors’ names, and a list of any prescriptions.

What we collect

When you fill out a form on this site, we collect what you type in: your name, phone number, ZIP code, and optionally your email, along with your answers about your situation and the coverage you’re interested in. We use it to call you back and help you with insurance.

How we use it

Your information goes to our office so a licensed agent can contact you. We don’t sell it, and we don’t share it with other agencies or marketing companies. If you choose to enroll in a plan, we share what the insurance company needs to process your application.

Calls, texts, and email

If you check the consent box on a form, you agree that we may contact you by phone, text, and email, including by automated means. Agreeing is never required to buy anything.
